Overview

This project focused on transforming reality capture data of a large-scale facility into a real-time 3D digital twin used for simulation, operational analysis, and visualization. The goal was to streamline the integration of scan data into a dynamic and interactive environment that could support real-time decision-making in industrial and logistics operations.

My Role

I was responsible for taking pre-designed elements and ensuring they were properly optimized and structured within Unreal Engine. My tasks included:

  • Reviewing and validating imported geometry and assets within Unreal Engine.

  • Organizing the full scene layout to ensure clean hierarchy, naming conventions, and efficient asset management.

  • Creating a fully assembled and navigable environment suitable for simulation and presentation.

  • Managing lighting, materials, and performance settings to balance visual fidelity with real-time performance.

  • Transitioning the entire project into NVIDIA Omniverse, maintaining fidelity and structure while enabling collaborative workflows and advanced simulation capabilities.

Tools & Technologies

  • Unreal Engine: Scene construction, performance tuning, asset integration.

  • Omniverse: Final handoff environment for real-time collaboration and simulation.

  • Reality Capture Tools: Source data provided as point clouds and mesh assets.

  • Version Control / Collaboration: Structured workflows to support team-based iterations and delivery.

Outcome

The final digital twin was successfully deployed in Omniverse, enabling real-time operational analysis and scenario simulation. The transition process significantly reduced development time, improved team collaboration, and provided a high-quality, interactive environment for stakeholders and technical teams.
