Role: 3D Artist / Asset Developer
Tools Used: 3ds Max, Substance Painter, Unity (pipeline), Adobe Photoshop
Client: Andretti Autosport® (via Kinetic Vision)
Overview
For this high-visibility augmented reality project with Andretti Autosport®, I was responsible for creating the detailed, photorealistic 3D vehicle assets used in their AR marketing application. These assets allowed fans, sponsors, and partners to experience full-scale race cars in real-world environments via mobile devices.
My role focused on modeling, texturing, and optimizing high-fidelity 3D race cars across multiple series, ensuring they met both performance and visual quality requirements for real-time AR deployment.
Key Contributions
-
3D Vehicle Modeling:
Created accurate, high-detail models of Andretti race cars using reference data and CAD files when available. -
Texturing & Materials:
Developed race-accurate liveries and realistic material setups in Substance Painter, optimized for real-time rendering. -
Optimization for Mobile AR:
Balanced polycount, texture resolution, and material complexity to ensure seamless performance on mobile AR platforms. -
Unity & ARKit Pipeline Prep:
Delivered clean, organized assets ready for handoff to Unity developers working within Apple ARKit and ARCore. -
Variant Support:
Created multiple versions and configurations to support sponsors, team changes, and different race series.
Project Impact
These assets were used in a custom AR marketing experience that allowed users to place scale or full-size race cars into real-world environments—boosting fan engagement, sponsor visibility, and event impact. My work helped bring realism and emotional connection to the app through high-quality, immersive 3D visuals.
